As a Staff Backend Engineer (L60) at Monzo, you'll join a multidisciplinary product squad within business units like Money, Borrowing, Fincrime, and more, where you’ll work closely with product managers, designers, marketers, analysts, and engineers to design and build backend systems that support Monzo’s mission to make money work for everyone. You’ll use technologies such as Go, Cassandra, Kafka, Kubernetes, Docker, Envoy Proxy, and AWS to develop resilient, distributed systems that handle real banking infrastructure. Monzo supports remote working across the UK or office-based work in London/Cardiff and offers visa sponsorship and UK relocation support. You’ll earn between £115,000 and £150,000 per year plus stock options, flexible hours, and a £1,000 learning budget.
