Mistral AI is hiring a Software Engineer to join its Research Team based in Paris or London. As a Research Engineer, you will design, build, and maintain the codebase, tools, and distributed systems that enable scientists to train and deploy frontier-scale AI models. You’ll work on complex infrastructure challenges such as large-scale pipelines, data processing systems, cluster tooling, and CI/CD frameworks that support next-generation machine learning research. The role requires strong experience with distributed systems, scalable backend development, and modern DevOps practices. Candidates should have at least four years of experience in software engineering, fluency in Python and one systems language (C++, Rust, Go, or Java), and familiarity with Kubernetes, SLURM, or similar orchestration technologies. A solid understanding of software design, observability, and performance optimization is essential. While prior ML experience is not required, curiosity about AI workloads and large-scale computation is a plus.
