This Software Engineer role at BioTalent is an exceptional opportunity to join an ambitious, well-funded early-stage startup that is reinventing how organizations store, manage, and analyze complex data such as genomics, climate data, video, and financial time-series. Based in London, the position offers full visa sponsorship and relocation support, along with a highly competitive salary of £120K–£150K and significant equity options. As part of a small, high-caliber team, you will help build a new class of cloud-native data infrastructure from the ground up, tackling deep systems-level engineering challenges at scale. Your responsibilities will include architecting and developing core components of a high-performance data platform, designing storage engines and distributed systems, optimizing performance and reliability, and contributing to the launch-readiness of the product. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of backend or systems-level software experience, strong programming skills in Rust, C, or C++, and deep knowledge of operating systems, storage internals, and modern data infrastructure tools like Apache Arrow, Parquet, or DuckDB. The role demands a strong passion for infrastructure and performance engineering, with an on-site commitment of 5 days a week in either London or New York City. This is a high-ownership role in a fast-paced startup environment where your contributions will directly impact a platform designed to support mission-critical data analysis worldwide.
