The Software Certification Engineer at GE Aerospace will play a pivotal role in leading software certification efforts across a diverse range of aviation products, including power generation and distribution systems, cockpit displays, navigation systems, computing and networking technologies, ignition systems, sensors, and propeller controls. The engineer will be responsible for developing and implementing certification strategies, defining the certification basis, planning means of compliance, and ensuring all regulatory requirements are fulfilled. Key responsibilities include reviewing software development artifacts, conducting certification audit pre-assessments for both internal projects and external suppliers, auditing project documentation and verification activities, supporting customer and regulatory authority audits, and working closely with integrated project teams to resolve audit findings and observations. The engineer will also have the opportunity to contribute to industry working groups and stay at the forefront of evolving aviation certification standards. The role requires experience in software development and/or certification within RTCA/DO-178B or DO-178C environments, and the ability to demonstrate compliance with aviation certification regulations. Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills are essential, as well as a detailed understanding of compliance procedures and software lifecycle documentation.
