Viridien is seeking a Senior Virtualization Systems Specialist to join its UK HPC Hub, responsible for the operation, support, and continuous improvement of Nutanix-based virtualization infrastructure supporting both High Performance Computing (HPC) and Enterprise workloads. The role includes managing and maintaining Debian Linux and Windows Server systems, implementing and enforcing backup, disaster recovery, and compliance policies, collaborating with hardware, network, security, services, and application teams to ensure system reliability and security, participating in capacity planning, system upgrades, and lifecycle management, documenting system configurations and procedures, contributing to Change Control Review Boards (CCRB) and continual service improvement initiatives, utilizing ITSM tools such as Jira for issue tracking and escalations, supporting in-house applications in alignment with infrastructure policies, balancing operational support with project delivery in a fast-paced environment, and providing mentorship and technical guidance to junior team members. Candidates should have a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related fields, at least 5 years of experience with enterprise virtualization platforms (Nutanix preferred), solid Linux (Debian) and Windows Server administration skills, strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation abilities, and a proactive, adaptable mindset. Nutanix certification, HPC environment experience, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), monitoring tools knowledge, and exposure to ITIL practices are desirable.
