The Senior Staff Machine Learning Scientist, Operations role is a senior individual contributor position responsible for defining and executing the long-term machine learning strategy across Monzo’s Operations and related business areas. This role involves shaping reusable ML architectures and modeling standards, influencing cross-functional teams including engineering, product, and leadership, and acting as the foremost technical authority on ML within the company. You will lead large-scale ML initiatives that impact customer support, operational efficiency, and AI-driven product innovation, including development of advanced AI models such as deep learning and large language models. Responsibilities include mentoring and coaching ML practitioners, advocating for responsible AI practices ensuring fairness and transparency, and sharing thought leadership with the wider ML community. Candidates should have deep expertise in Python, SQL, ML frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch, experience with microservices, real-time ML applications, reinforcement learning, graph models, and NLP.
