Cambridge University Press & Assessment is seeking a Senior Solutions Engineer to join their Core Solutions team in Cambridge, UK, on a hybrid working model with at least two days per week in the office. This permanent, full-time role (35 hours per week) offers a salary range of £65,300–£87,350 and provides a high-impact, hands-on leadership opportunity in shaping the future of DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) across the organisation. The successful candidate will set the strategic direction for SRE and DevOps capabilities while remaining actively involved in delivering key objectives, including overseeing software infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, observability solutions, and tooling to ensure efficient, reliable, and scalable code delivery and operational processes. Key responsibilities include leading and mentoring a globally distributed DevOps team, embedding best practices across delivery streams, optimising cloud hosting and AWS service usage, driving FinOps awareness, translating technical roadmaps into measurable business outcomes, and collaborating with stakeholders, architects, and service managers to ensure smooth delivery of change. Candidates should have hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), containerization and orchestration tools (Docker and Kubernetes), software engineering, technical delivery, or solution architecture, along with a proven track record of leading teams that deliver mission-critical services. Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, business acumen, and the ability to foster a high-performance culture are essential.
