As a Founding Senior Engineer at Tracer, you will play a key role in developing the company’s core observability platform for high-performance computing in the life sciences sector. Your responsibilities will include architecting and developing a Rust-based client for data ingestion, designing and implementing core platform features such as data connectors, logs management systems, observability interfaces, and error resolution tools, as well as driving architectural decisions and leading deployments on customer cloud environments. You will collaborate closely with the founding engineering team to align technical solutions with business goals while fostering engineering excellence through mentorship and best practices. The role requires at least 5+ years of experience in building complex software systems, proficiency in low-level programming such as Rust or C, and deep technical expertise in high-performance computing, cloud infrastructure, data engineering, or data science. Candidates should demonstrate a strong product mindset, proven ability to ship complex products quickly, and experience leveraging open-source architectures. Bonus points if you bring experience in technical leadership, early-stage startups, or advanced data infrastructure. Tracer’s stack includes Rust, Nextflow, AlphaFold, AWS, Terraform, and eBPF, though direct experience with these is not required. This is a full-time, on-site role in London with compensation of £65K – £120K plus significant equity, and visa sponsorship is available for exceptional candidates.
