Astroscale UK is seeking a Senior Simulation Software Engineer to join their team in Harwell, Oxfordshire. This role is pivotal in the development of advanced satellite simulators that are essential for validating and preparing mission operations. As part of the Ground Segment team, the engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, testing, and deploying spacecraft simulators used in complex orbital environments, including close-proximity maneuvers with other space assets. The candidate will provide subject matter expertise and work across the full simulator lifecycle, from requirements analysis to software integration and maintenance. Key responsibilities include mentoring junior colleagues, developing simulation models based on stakeholder needs, ensuring software robustness through rigorous testing, and managing simulator availability and performance. The ideal candidate will have a university degree in computer science, aerospace, or a related field, strong experience in C++ development on Linux, and familiarity with SMP simulation frameworks like SIMULUS. Practical knowledge of Agile methodologies, UML, scripting in JavaScript, and tools such as Make and CMake are desirable.
