This role involves expanding and enhancing capabilities in therapeutic antibody discovery within Cancer Research Horizons' Drug Discovery team. The Senior Scientist will apply a range of molecular biology techniques for protein expression and antibody drug discovery, troubleshoot and design innovative solutions, and lead the sourcing, production, and quality control of antigens and reagents required for the discovery cascade. The position includes collaboration with colleagues on antibody design and optimisation, expression and purification of antibody fragments from bacterial and mammalian hosts, and maintaining state-of-the-art lab equipment. The role may involve managing junior staff and contributing to technology development projects. The ideal candidate will hold a degree and/or PhD in a relevant field, with experience in pre-clinical antibody drug discovery, biotherapeutic candidate discovery, and protein purification using automated platforms like AKTA. A solid understanding of protein QC techniques (e.g., SDS-PAGE, HPLC, Western blotting), molecular biology methods for constructing protein expression vectors, and familiarity with AI/ML applications in antibody development is expected. High-throughput expression and purification experience, protein affinity measurements, and data analysis skills are highly desirable. This is a permanent, full-time position based in Cambridge, with a salary range of £41,700 - £46,500 plus benefits including up to 12% pension contribution, flexible working, and visa sponsorship for eligible applicants.
