As a Senior / Principal Engineer in Overhead Lines (OHL), you will play a crucial role in designing and executing complex overhead transmission line projects, including those up to 400kV. The position requires expertise in areas such as PLS-CADD modeling, line routing, structural analysis, sag-tension calculations, and conductor/insulator selection. You will lead technical efforts on multi-disciplinary projects, from feasibility studies to final design, ensuring all work complies with industry regulations and safety standards. A key focus will be on the successful delivery of the National Grid’s Great Grid Partnership, a major £9bn initiative to connect clean energy to homes and businesses across England and Wales. In addition to technical design, your responsibilities will include preparing bids, engaging with clients, and reviewing engineering deliverables. You’ll collaborate with various teams, including stakeholders and environmental consultants, to ensure that all designs align with the project’s environmental and sustainability goals.
