The University of Leeds is seeking a proactive and experienced Senior Network Engineer to join its IT Operations team on a 12-month fixed-term basis, offering a hybrid working arrangement. This role is vital in providing cover while the core team delivers a major network transformation and embeds a new Network Operations Centre. As a Senior Network Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting and maintaining the campus-wide network, acting as a technical escalation point, and delivering 2nd and 3rd line support. You will contribute to projects involving Azure networking, software-defined networking, and Zero Trust architecture, helping to shape the University’s digital infrastructure. The position requires extensive hands-on experience in managing and supporting campus-scale network infrastructure, including wired and wireless technologies, as well as strong knowledge of cloud-based solutions. The role also involves close collaboration with suppliers, stakeholders, and colleagues, providing technical evaluation, advice, and project guidance for both technical and non-technical audiences. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of the University’s digital transformation, ensuring robust and future-ready network services. In return, the University offers a competitive salary of £41,064 to £48,822 per annum, generous annual leave of 42 days (including bank holidays and custom closure days), pension and life assurance schemes, staff wellbeing support, discounted gym membership, professional development courses, childcare facilities, shopping discounts, and other staff benefits. The position is based at the Leeds city centre campus, and the post is suitable for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship.
