The Senior Linux Systems Administrator role at Edinburgh Napier University is a full-time position within the Datacentre and Operations team of the Information Services department. This team is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining centralised compute and storage services across the University. The role involves acting as the technical lead for the development and management of Linux enterprise and High-Performance Computing (HPC) systems, including evaluating new technologies, managing risk, and ensuring services meet university needs. Responsibilities include providing support to academic staff and researchers using Linux and HPC systems, troubleshooting issues, configuring computational environments, and guiding best practices in batch job submission and resource allocation. The successful candidate will be expected to proactively engage with stakeholders, contribute to incident handling and change management processes, and potentially participate in the university’s out-of-hours support scheme. A deep understanding of IT principles and technical knowledge of Linux enterprise and HPC systems is essential.
