The Senior Lecturer in Engineering Design at Aston University is a full-time, permanent academic role focused on leading and innovating in engineering design education and research within the School of Engineering & Innovation. The role involves developing interdisciplinary and industry-aligned design modules across mechanical, biomedical, product design and the new aerospace engineering programme, while integrating digital simulation and physical prototyping through CDIO and project-based learning. The successful candidate will enhance experiential learning, bring real-world industrial challenges into the curriculum, and develop a strong research profile in digital engineering, sustainable design, simulation, modelling or design education innovation, including publishing in top journals, securing research funding from UKRI or industry, and supervising postgraduate students. Candidates with expertise in computational design, digital workflows or design optimisation are especially encouraged. The role supports inclusivity, collaboration with Design Factory networks, and engagement with professional and outreach activities, and may qualify for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship subject to shortlisting assessment.
