The Francis Crick Institute is seeking a Senior Laboratory Research Scientist (SLRS) specializing in Cryo-Electron Microscopy (cryo-EM) for a full-time, permanent position based in London. The role involves supporting single-particle and tomography projects within the Structural Biology Science Technology Platform (SB STP). The successful candidate will assist users in cryo-EM research, manage and maintain high-end electron microscopes, support experimental design including sample preparation and imaging of biological specimens, and provide training in both experimental and computational aspects of cryo-EM. The cryo-EM unit includes advanced equipment such as 300kV Krios TEMs, Glacios and Talos TEMs, cryo-FIB-SEM Aquilos-2, and various specimen preparation tools, all supported by a robust computing infrastructure for data analysis. Applicants must have a higher degree in biological, physical, or engineering sciences or equivalent experience, with expertise in electron microscopy, cryo-EM operation, high-resolution data collection, and data analysis. A strong background in structural science, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently or collaboratively are essential. While not mandatory, experience with cryo-FIB/SEM and cryo-CLEM is highly desirable. The salary starts from £45,700 per year with benefits.
