The Senior Laboratory Research Scientist – Specialist Virology Researcher (SLRS) at The Francis Crick Institute is a full-time, permanent role based in London, offering a competitive salary starting from £45,700 per annum with excellent benefits and visa sponsorship. The role involves working within the COVID Surveillance Unit to run high-throughput live-virus neutralisation assays, develop and troubleshoot advanced virology and immunology techniques, manage laboratory workflows and assay pipelines, and contribute to the development of novel assay platforms. The position requires a PhD or equivalent experience in virology, immunology, or a related field, with hands-on expertise in live-virus assays (particularly SARS-CoV-2 and influenza), cell culture, viral propagation, flow cytometry, molecular biology techniques, and data analysis tools such as R or Python. Candidates should demonstrate independence, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
