Astroscale is seeking an experienced Senior Ground Segment Systems Engineer to join its Harwell, UK team, where the role involves leading the development, integration, verification, validation, and maintenance of all ground systems required to safely operate satellite missions, including mission control, mission planning, and ground station interface systems. The engineer will work across the full lifecycle—from conceptual design to operational support—deriving requirements, coordinating with internal teams and external suppliers, producing high-quality documentation, following Agile (SCRUM) development processes, conducting system tests and simulation campaigns, troubleshooting technical issues, and providing training and support to mission operations teams. The position requires strong industry experience in satellite ground systems, excellent communication and reporting skills, knowledge of requirements engineering, space mission development, system integration, and V&V processes. Preferred skills include experience with SCOS-2000, automation systems, mission planning tools, antenna communications, Linux development, C++/Java programming, and familiarity with ECSS/CCSDS standards.
