About the job

The Senior Configuration Analyst role at the Bank of England involves providing technical leadership and support for critical SWIFT financial messaging systems that underpin the UK’s banking and payment infrastructure, including the Real-Time Gross Settlement System handling around £650 billion in payments daily. The role requires managing production and UAT environments, monitoring system performance, resolving incidents swiftly—including out-of-hours and holiday support—and delivering high-quality software components and documentation. The analyst will coordinate operational activities such as failover tests and security reviews, apply strong analytical skills to incident management, and proactively manage major IT incidents. They are also expected to drive service improvements by reducing support calls, implementing process changes, and empowering frontline colleagues to resolve issues early. The position involves working closely with various internal and external stakeholders, adhering to team standards, and demonstrating the Bank’s Service First culture. Candidates should have experience with SWIFT products, strong technical and analytical skills, the ability to communicate confidently with senior business and technical partners, and excellent attention to detail under pressure. Experience with additional technologies like IBM MQ, Windows, Linux, and security tools is desirable. The Bank values diversity and inclusion, offers flexible working, comprehensive benefits including pension and medical insurance, and employment is subject to National Security Vetting.
