The Senior Automation Developer will lead the design, development, and implementation of robotic process automation (RPA) solutions across South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, using tools like Blue Prism, SQL, Python or Visual Basic, and APIs, to integrate systems and enhance clinical and corporate operations. Working within the Digital Services team and the Solutions Architecture section, the role focuses on creating secure, reliable, and efficient automations that support transformation strategies. The post-holder will manage the full automation lifecycle—from planning and testing to deployment and governance—while ensuring high availability of systems, data security, and compliance with trust policies. Experience with integration tools such as HL7, FHIR, and engines like InterSystems, Mirth, or Rhapsody is essential, along with familiarity with NHS smartcards, Microsoft Azure, and automation of NHS systems like ESR, PAS, EPR, and NHS Jobs. The successful candidate will also facilitate training, lead change initiatives, and participate in governance forums to ensure best practices in deployment. This full-time, permanent Band 8a role offers a salary between £61,927 and £68,676 per annum (inclusive of HCAS) and is based at Maudsley Hospital in London with flexible working options.
