Nu Quantum is hiring a Senior AMO Physicist to join its Cambridge-based quantum hardware team, working hands-on on a quantum-network demonstrator that integrates proprietary qubit–photon interface and cavity microtechnology with trapped-ion systems. This role sits at the intersection of atomic physics, cavity QED, and quantum engineering, focusing on designing and executing remote-entanglement experiments, advancing ion-trapping devices, and improving quantum networking rates and fidelities. The Senior AMO Physicist will develop, maintain, and troubleshoot complex laboratory systems including laser setups, RF/DC electronics, control platforms, and ultra-high-vacuum hardware, while collaborating closely with software, optical, mechanical, electrical, theory, and simulation teams. The role also involves mentoring junior AMO physicists, contributing to technical strategy, establishing best practices in safety and documentation, and driving experimental innovation and scalability.
