Jisc is seeking a Security Engineer for a hybrid role within the UK, offering a salary starting from £42,000 per annum (negotiable based on experience). This permanent, full-time role (35 hours/week) involves working in the Architecture and Engineering team within Jisc's cybersecurity division. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and developing critical infrastructure, especially DNS and Network Time services. Responsibilities include patching, monitoring, system optimization, and second-line troubleshooting. Candidates should have strong experience in Linux or Windows server administration, DNS server technologies, DNS record types, scripting languages (such as Java, Python, Bash, C, Golang, or Perl), and preferably knowledge of databases like MySQL or PostgreSQL. Experience with network time services is a plus. The position plays a crucial role in ensuring resilience, reliability, and cybersecurity for Jisc’s infrastructure.
