The Research Technologist in Sustainable Electronics at the University of Glasgow will work as part of the inter-university UKRI REACT Research Centre, which focuses on developing sustainable electronics across the UK. The role involves engaging with companies and research organizations to understand their technical needs in sustainable electronics, conducting knowledge exchange activities, undertaking secondments in partner labs, overseeing advanced electronic design based on research outputs, and collaborating closely with teams across Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Heriot-Watt universities. The responsibilities include life cycle assessments of electronic systems, supporting higher-TRL activities, building electronic systems, leading analysis of operational data, participating in market and user surveys, representing REACT at events, contributing to funding applications, mentoring junior team members, and enhancing the university's international profile. The postholder should possess a PhD or equivalent experience, with specialist technical knowledge in electronics hardware design, sustainable electronics, and relevant IT tools. Essential skills include experimental electronics, project management, strategic thinking, teamwork, and communication. The role requires experience in high-tech projects, preferably with exposure to the semiconductor or embedded systems industries. The post offers a Grade 7 salary (£40,947 - £45,413), is full-time for 18 months, and is eligible for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship.
