The Biomedical Data Intelligence Hub at the University of Edinburgh is seeking a Research Software Engineer to support its cutting-edge research in Artificial Intelligence (AI) applied to quantitative biology and biomedicine. This full-time, fixed-term role for 24 months involves developing, deploying, and maintaining software stacks for a wide range of biomedical projects involving cellular, genomic, imaging, neural, healthcare, and structural data. The successful candidate will work closely with a team of data scientists and doctoral students in the UKRI Centre for Doctoral Training in Biomedical AI, leveraging state-of-the-art computing resources including a new GPU server. Key responsibilities include algorithm implementation, software optimization, and technical mentorship. Ideal applicants will have a degree in a quantitative subject (such as Computer Science or Statistics), strong programming skills, experience in research software development, and a passion for clean, collaborative coding.
