The University of Leeds is recruiting a Research Fellow in Soft Magnetic Surgical Robots to join the renowned STORM Lab within the School of Electronic & Electrical Engineering. This role involves developing soft, compliant, and intelligent magnetic robotic devices for minimally invasive surgical procedures, including creating growing robots that can be guided inside the human body using magnetic fields and deploying neural electrodes in the brain. The successful candidate will contribute to manufacturing processes, behavioural modelling under controllable magnetic fields, and testing within realistic anatomical models, working in a multidisciplinary team of roboticists, engineers, and clinicians. The position offers a salary between £41,064 and £48,822 per annum, full-time for 12 months, with hybrid and flexible working options. The role may be eligible for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship (subject to salary concessions for first-time applicants) and Global Talent visa routes.
