The University of Leeds is seeking a Research Fellow in ML System Design for Large AI Models to lead the development of innovative system designs for Large Language Models (LLMs) as part of an EPSRC-funded project aimed at a spin-out company that will impact society significantly. The role involves designing a novel ML-oriented system from scratch to support efficient training, inference, and user-friendly deployment of large AI models, reducing hardware costs and enabling broader participation in LLM research by engineers and academics. Responsibilities include leading the engineering team, managing external validation partners, and advancing research in AI systems and middleware. This full-time, fixed-term position is based at the Leeds campus with flexible working options, offering a salary between £39,355 and £46,735 per annum. Visa sponsorship may be available under the Skilled Worker route, and eligibility for the Global Talent visa is also considered for academic posts.
