The University of Leeds is seeking an ambitious Research Fellow in Geothermal Seismology to join the School of Earth and Environment, contributing to the SmartRes project funded by NERC, which aims to advance the understanding and uptake of geothermal resources for urban energy supply. The role involves applying seismic expertise, including the use of fibre-optic distributed sensing and nodal seismometer data, to study geothermal systems at UK test sites such as Berkshire and the UKGEOS Cheshire site, and integrating seismic results with hydrological and thermal models. The post-holder will lead research outputs including papers and conference presentations, working within a multidisciplinary team of engineers, hydrologists, modellers, and policy experts. This position offers a salary between £41,064 and £48,822, is based at the Leeds main campus with hybrid and flexible working options, and is offered full-time for 8 months. The role may be eligible for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship (with possible salary concessions for first-time applicants) and for Global Talent visa routes.
