This role is a full-time, fixed-term research position based at the University of Leeds campus with scope for hybrid working, focusing on building geophysical models of the subsurface to assess sustainable energy production and resource use. The candidate will work within the Geosolutions Centre, applying methods to analyze seismic, borehole, and geological data, produce estimates of subsurface properties with uncertainty, and may use machine learning and Bayesian inference approaches. The position involves collaboration with PDRAs, PhDs, academic staff, potential travel to Iceland and Italy, and contributions to international conferences. A PhD (or near completion) in geophysics, geostatistics, physics, applied mathematics, or similar is required, along with strong data analysis and communication skills. Visa sponsorship may be available under the Skilled Worker or Global Talent routes.
