Arondite, a well-funded and ambitious defence technology company based in London, is seeking a Lead AI Research Engineer to join its elite team of engineers at a pivotal moment in the company’s journey. Arondite is building the foundational AI and software to power the autonomous age, revolutionising the way organisations collaborate with sensors, robots, and autonomous systems, while staying committed to defending democratic values. In this role, you will have full ownership and autonomy from Day One, directly shaping the design, functionality, and direction of Arondite’s AI-driven solutions. You will lead and grow a high-performing AI team, architect and deliver innovative ML/AI models for core software and edge devices like drones and ground robots, and tackle real-world challenges including data acquisition, ethical concerns, and explainability of AI systems. Candidates should have at least 5 years of hands-on experience applying modern ML in areas such as computer vision, multi-modal sensing, path planning, language and vision-language models, along with strong coding skills in Python, Rust, C++ or Java, and prior experience managing AI engineers. A master’s degree in computer science, machine learning, robotics, or a related field is required, while a PhD and top-tier publications are highly desirable. Additional advantages include expertise in deploying AI models to production, working with MLOps infrastructure, handling resource-constrained hardware, and managing large datasets or simulations. The role requires candidates eligible for or willing to undergo UK Security Check (SC) clearance, typically requiring 5 years of continuous UK residency.
