The Research Associate in Hydrogen role at Aston University involves working within the Energy & Bioproducts Research Institute (EBRI) to model, analyse, and optimise solid oxide steam electrolysis systems for hydrogen production, with a strong focus on computational modelling, techno-economic analysis, and life cycle assessment to evaluate system performance and commercial viability. The role includes conducting advanced simulations, supporting the development of new hydrogen technologies, collaborating with academic and industrial partners, contributing to research publications, engaging in project reporting, and assisting with new grant applications. The position requires a PhD in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, along with proven experience in SOEC/SOFC modelling, LCA, TEA, and numerical methods. The successful candidate will contribute to Aston’s clean-energy research agenda and support the broader mission of enabling next-generation hydrogen production solutions, with the possibility of Skilled Worker visa sponsorship depending on eligibility and shortlisting.
