The full-time Research Assistant position at the University of Glasgow, based in the Centre for the Cellular Microenvironment, involves contributing to a cross-disciplinary EPSRC-funded project focused on nanovibrational control of chondrogenic differentiation. Working under the guidance of Professors Manuel Salmeron-Sanchez and Matt Dalby, the role requires conducting individual and collaborative research aligned with the project deliverables and strategy. Key responsibilities include planning experiments, analyzing and interpreting data, maintaining accurate records, contributing to high-quality research publications, presenting findings at national and international conferences, identifying funding opportunities, and engaging in team collaboration. The successful candidate must have experience in cell culture, hydrogel synthesis and characterization, mechanical testing, microscopy (including Brillouin and confocal), and 3D in vitro model systems. They should demonstrate strong communication, time management, and problem-solving skills, along with research creativity and a collaborative approach. Administrative duties, student mentoring, and modest teaching activities may also be required. This fixed-term post, funded for up to 11 months, offers a salary of £33,482–£37,174 per annum and may be eligible for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship, subject to UK Home Office requirements.
