microTECH Global is seeking a highly skilled and innovative Principal Process Engineer with expertise in photolithography to join their Suffolk, UK facility on a permanent, on-site basis, with visa sponsorship available. The role focuses on optimizing photolithography processes for R&D and manufacturing of InP photonics wafers, developing new processes to meet future device requirements, and supporting process transfer to large-volume manufacturing. Key responsibilities include leading process development and optimization, overseeing equipment installation, calibration, and maintenance, collaborating with device design teams, establishing process control and characterization methodologies, resolving lithographic patterning issues, implementing emerging techniques and materials, providing technical guidance to engineering teams, and managing R&D projects aligned with strategic objectives. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, with 12+ years of photolithography experience in compound semiconductor or photonic device manufacturing, strong knowledge of lithographic mask design and resist technologies, familiarity with cleanroom protocols and equipment such as steppers, aligners, and spin coaters, proficiency in process characterization tools (SEM, AFM, profilometers), solid understanding of photonics and optoelectronic devices, analytical skills in statistical process control, and excellent communication and leadership abilities.
