Flux Computing is seeking a Process Engineer – Optoelectronics to design and prototype GaAs-based VCSELs, detectors, and passive components that sit at the heart of optical processing units (OTPUs) and to develop rapid-fabrication processes that bring these designs to life. The role involves taking devices from CAD to measured die in days, iterating quickly, and feeding insights back into the next design spin. Key responsibilities include device design and simulation to balance optical, electrical, and thermal constraints; prototype-first process execution and optimization including thin-film deposition, UV photolithography, lift-off, dry and wet etching, wafer thinning, and metallisation; process development with DOE planning, SPC limit definition, and repeatable recipe establishment; cross-functional collaboration with IC, packaging, and test teams for seamless integration; documentation and knowledge sharing through logging process changes and running design/process reviews; mentorship of junior engineers and conducting regular process reviews and FMEA sessions; and staying updated with advances in III-V growth, dry-etch chemistries, and photonics packaging. Candidates should have 3+ years of hands-on III-V semiconductor process engineering experience, practical experience with multiple fabrication techniques, a proven record taking optoelectronic devices from concept to prototype, familiarity with JMP/Python for DOE, SPC, and data visualization, knowledge of ISO-14644, SEMI, and safety protocols for III-V toxics, and a B.Eng., M.Sc., or Ph.D. in Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field. Bonus points for experience interfacing GaAs dies with flip-chip or SiPh interposers and familiarity with numerical simulation and optical/electrical characterization techniques. Visa sponsorship is available for eligible candidates.
