Arondite, a defence technology company based in London, is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join its engineering team and contribute to building foundational software and AI that powers the autonomous age. The Principal Software Engineer will drive the development of software enabling autonomous systems to collaborate, process large sensor datasets, and build intuitive graphical user interfaces for web and Android platforms, while writing flexible, maintainable code that operates in mission-critical environments. Responsibilities include interfacing with third-party APIs, developing internal APIs, iterating closely with end users to improve products based on feedback, and influencing the engineering culture, processes, and hiring decisions. Candidates should have at least 5 years of professional experience, strong core programming skills in languages such as C++, Java, Rust, or Python, front-end development experience in TypeScript or JavaScript using frameworks like Angular or React, and a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Additional desirable experience includes embedded/resource-constrained devices, Docker and Kubernetes, SQL databases, machine learning applications, media streaming, and defence technology. The role requires security clearance (UK Security Check SC or above), and while hybrid working is supported, candidates must be willing to work on-site and potentially travel to customer locations.
