This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join a cutting-edge semiconductor R&D team as a Principal GPU Architect, where you will play a key leadership role in defining the architecture and direction of next-generation Graphics Processing Units (GPUs). The position is based in the UK, with flexible working arrangements including hybrid or fully remote options from other European countries. You will be responsible for designing high-level GPU and micro-architectures, contributing to technical strategy, and overseeing the development of complex hardware IP that drives the future of graphics and compute acceleration. This role demands significant expertise in GPU architecture, with a deep understanding of modern 3D graphics and compute APIs such as Vulkan, Direct3D 12, OpenCL, or CUDA. You'll take projects from concept through to production and delivery (tape-out), which includes performance benchmarking, analysis, design optimization, and cost evaluation. You’ll also work closely with design and verification teams, ensuring compliance with standard methodologies like UVM and integrating feedback into the architecture process. Collaboration is essential in this multidisciplinary team, and the ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator who thrives in a team environment and is comfortable interacting with engineers, project managers, and external stakeholders. Additional expertise in areas such as video compression, digital signal/image processing, algorithm development, SystemC or UML modelling, and functional safety (e.g., ISO26262) will be highly valued. The role offers a highly competitive salary in the range of £100k or more, depending on experience and seniority, along with the opportunity for long-term career development and technical influence at a global level. Most importantly, visa sponsorship and full relocation support are available for highly qualified and motivated applicants who are ready to move to the UK permanently. This is a strategic and technically challenging role suited for someone with 10+ years of experience in GPU IP design and a desire to shape the future of graphics hardware.
