About the job

The Francis Crick Institute is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join the Hill Lab, led by Caroline Hill, Head of the Developmental Signalling Laboratory. This four-year, full-time fixed-term role based in London focuses on understanding the mechanisms that control cell fate decisions between mesoderm and definitive endoderm in human embryonic stem cells. Building on previous research in zebrafish models that identified a stochastic process governed by Nodal and Fgf/Erk signalling pathways, the successful candidate will explore whether similar mechanisms operate in human development. The project will involve advanced live imaging using multiplexed Erk biosensors with fate reporters, as well as applying multiomics technologies such as single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq), single-cell ATAC-seq (scATAC-seq), and whole-genome CRISPR screening. The research will use 2D and 3D gastruloid models derived from hESCs to generate new insights into lineage specification. Applicants must hold a PhD in a relevant biological science, possess significant expertise in stem cell culture and differentiation, advanced imaging, and molecular biology, and have a strong publication record. The Crick Institute provides a dynamic and collaborative research environment, competitive salary from £45,500, extensive benefits, and full visa sponsorship for successful candidates and their dependents.
