The Francis Crick Institute is seeking a Postdoctoral Project Research Scientist (PPRS) for a 2-year fixed-term contract based in London, UK. This full-time, on-site role is within the Miguel-Aliaga lab, which studies how organs respond to environmental and internal signals, focusing on gastrointestinal tract plasticity. The position involves developing AI-based image analysis tools and neural networks for segmenting GI tract shape from UK Biobank whole-body MRI scans, using programming tools like ImageJ/FIJI, Python, and R. The ideal candidate will hold or be nearing completion of a PhD in Developmental Biology, Cell Biology, or Computational Biology and have experience working with large 3D datasets such as MRI or microCT, deep learning for image segmentation, and scientific writing. Responsibilities include tool development, data analysis, collaboration with lab members, and contributing to scientific publications. The salary starts from £45,500 annually with benefits including visa sponsorship, 28 days annual leave (plus holidays), pension contributions up to 16%, health and well-being support, family care services, and access to Crick’s advanced research facilities.
