This Post-Doctoral Research Associate position is part of a British Council ISPF–funded collaboration advancing an eco-friendly, off-grid adsorption desalination solution for Egypt, integrating solar (thermal and PV) and geothermal energy with soil-based thermal storage for 24/7 operation. The role involves leading UK work on sorption material development and characterisation, CFD modelling of core heat-exchange components, digital twin development, and system-level optimisation using TRNSYS and MATLAB/Python. Responsibilities include laboratory development of sustainable sorption composites, building and validating high-fidelity 3D/CFD models of core components, integrating component models for system optimisation, designing experiments for model validation, collaborating with UK–Egypt partners, contributing to techno-economic assessment, supporting prototype definition and field demonstration, preparing technical documentation, disseminating outcomes via journals and conferences, mentoring ECRs/MSc/PhD contributors, and maintaining research integrity and project governance. Applicants should have a PhD or near completion in mechanical, chemical, or thermal sciences or a related field, with hands-on experience in sorption material synthesis, CFD skills, MATLAB/Python proficiency, and ideally experience in adsorption desalination, porous media, or renewable thermal systems.
