Astroscale UK & Europe are seeking an experienced and motivated space system engineer with a strong background in space, aerospace, or other technical industries, to work at their state-of-the-art facility based in Harwell, UK. As a member of the payload team, you will lead a wide range of project work across Astroscale’s missions, providing subject matter expertise to define and drive the design, development, testing, and operations of unique capture systems for space missions, focusing on orbital debris removal. This role requires close collaboration with engineering teams, suppliers, and stakeholders across the globe, ensuring that payload designs meet mission requirements and are compatible with other spacecraft systems. You will be responsible for generating and reviewing system requirements, verification strategies, and participating in hardware design and testing. The role also involves contributing to the spacecraft’s lifecycle from design and development through assembly, integration, verification (AIV) phases, and launch campaigns. Additionally, you will engage with the AIV team to ensure ease of manufacture and integration, support procurement with manufacturing supply chains, and assist in company-wide projects. The role is crucial to addressing the growing problem of orbital debris and involves both technical expertise and the ability to manage complex, multi-disciplinary projects with tight deadlines.
