The Network Engineer at Jisc will play a vital role in supporting the Janet Network, which serves UK education and research institutions. This hybrid role involves both network operations and fieldwork, with an initial six-month period based at the London Network Operations Centre. The engineer will handle fault diagnosis, customer installations, patching, configuration, operational documentation, and training support. They must also be familiar with network architecture across Layers 1, 2, and 3, with knowledge of DWDM considered a plus. The role includes participation in a 24/7 on-call rota, occasional work outside regular hours, and travel to data centres or customer premises. Jisc offers a competitive salary starting from £42,000, flexible working arrangements post-probation, generous leave, pension schemes, health and wellbeing benefits, and active sponsorship for skilled worker visas. The organisation promotes diversity, inclusion, continuous learning, and a healthy work-life balance.
