The Mission Concept Engineer role at Astroscale UK is a full-time, hybrid position based in Didcot, Oxfordshire, focused on supporting bid and proposal activities from a technical perspective and helping to develop new mission concepts for in-orbit servicing and end-of-life satellite missions. Reporting to the Chief Engineer and working closely with the systems, business development, and product strategy teams, the engineer will adapt existing mission architectures to meet new customer requirements, lead technical aspects of bids and early mission phases, perform trade-off analyses, generate system budgets and mission timelines, and author technical documentation. This role requires at least two years of satellite systems engineering experience, a solid understanding of critical satellite subsystems, and strong communication and proposal writing skills. Familiarity with AOCS, mission operations, AIT, STK, ESA studies, and fluency in Japanese are desirable. The position offers a competitive salary (£45,000–£70,000 depending on experience), flexible working, 25–28 days of holiday plus bank holidays, private healthcare, relocation allowance, and regular social events. While the company generally supports visa sponsorship, this specific role does not offer sponsorship, so applicants must have the existing right to work in the UK. Astroscale is an innovative space technology company committed to sustainable space operations and is the only private company fully dedicated to in-orbit servicing across all orbits.
