Monzo Bank is seeking an Engineering Manager for their Machine Learning Platform team, responsible for leading 5-7 engineers within the Platform Collective, which builds and maintains the infrastructure, tools, and processes that empower Monzo’s technology teams. The role focuses on technical, product, and people leadership, overseeing the development of a robust, scalable, high-performance ML platform covering the full ML lifecycle, including experimentation, training, feature engineering, and model deployment at scale. You will collaborate closely with ML and Data teams, Technical Leads, and senior engineers to ensure delivery of impactful solutions while fostering engineering excellence, driving adoption, and mentoring team members. Responsibilities include guiding squad delivery, coaching engineers, driving technical initiatives, managing stakeholder communication, and contributing to company-wide engineering best practices. While hands-on coding is not required, a strong technical background, prior software engineering experience, and experience with ML platforms are essential. The position offers flexible UK-based working, visa sponsorship, relocation support, a competitive salary of £110,500–£145,000 plus stock options and benefits, and the opportunity to work on cutting-edge ML infrastructure supporting Monzo’s product teams.
