The Trusted Research Environment (TRE) Systems Administrator at the University of Glasgow will be responsible for managing and maintaining the physical and virtual Linux and Windows server infrastructure supporting TRE in a secure enterprise environment. This includes daily operations, system updates, patch management, storage management (PowerScale, PowerStore, PowerProtect), virtualization using VMware/ESXi on Dell PowerEdge servers, and performance monitoring to ensure high availability and optimal user experience. The role requires strong scripting skills (e.g., Python), containerization and orchestration expertise, and experience supporting research tools like RStudio, Jupyter, PostgreSQL, and secure data environments. The postholder will collaborate with external vendors (e.g., Dell, DataVita), internal IT teams, and research stakeholders to ensure service continuity, system compliance, and timely support for sensitive research data. Strong problem-solving, workload management, and communication skills are essential. The role is full-time and open-ended, offering a salary of £40,497 - £45,413 per annum and is eligible for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship if tradeable points are met.
