Solve Intelligence, a YC-backed London startup, is seeking a Legal and Product Engineer to combine deep patent expertise with AI systems development, bridging the gap between patent law and cutting-edge AI technology. The role involves optimizing AI outputs for patent applications, prosecution, portfolio management, freedom-to-operate analyses, and patent litigation, developing algorithms and prompts for large language models tailored to patent-specific tasks, building proprietary benchmarks and datasets to evaluate AI models against USPTO and international standards, and translating client insights into product development priorities and scalable playbooks across various patent practice areas. The engineer will act as a strategic partner to patent attorneys and corporate legal teams, managing client relationships from pilot projects to firm-wide AI adoption, delivering product demonstrations and training, and addressing complex AI challenges specific to patent law. Candidates must be admitted to practice before the USPTO or EPO, have 3+ years of patent prosecution experience, and preferably hold an undergraduate degree in engineering or life sciences, with experience in AI tools, prompt engineering, or software development considered a plus.
