About the job

The Lead Rig Engineer, also known as the Rig Director, is responsible for overseeing high-power aircraft electrical installations used to test GE Aerospace products in a full system environment. This role entails ensuring the safety of the test team and equipment, supporting projects within the labs to maintain safe working methods, and continually assessing risks associated with rig setups. The Rig Director must ensure all engineers adhere to necessary Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies, and that test personnel possess appropriate skills. The position requires proven experience with complex electrical test and supply systems (both AC and DC), thorough knowledge of safety procedures and legal regulations, excellent problem-solving abilities, and flexibility to work long or overnight shifts as needed. An Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent vocational experience is essential, along with regulatory BS7671 certification or equivalent knowledge.
