The Lead NDT Technician at GE Aerospace will be responsible for overseeing the non-destructive testing (NDT) processes for Dowty Propellers' range of composite and metallic products, ensuring their structural integrity and quality. This role involves applying and managing various NDT techniques, including Ultrasonic Testing (UT) through contact and immersion methods (A, B, and C scan), Radiographic Testing (RT) using X-ray and digital methods, Eddy Current Testing (ET) for both static and dynamic phase analysis, Magnetic Particle Inspection (MT), Liquid Penetrant Inspection (PT), Bond Testing (BT), and Acid Etch Inspection. Additionally, the Lead NDT Technician will establish and approve NDT methods and techniques, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory requirements, while also managing and training a team of NDT technicians and contractors. This position requires strong collaboration with design and development teams, supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) programs, and providing guidance on detected defects to determine corrective actions. The ideal candidate will hold an NDT Level 3 qualification in Ultrasonic Testing (UT) and Radiographic Testing (RT), possess a degree in engineering or a recognized apprenticeship with relevant experience, and have a deep understanding of composite manufacturing processes and AS9100-approved business practices.
