Monzo Bank is hiring a Lead Machine Learning Scientist to help revolutionise customer support by developing and deploying advanced machine learning systems, including LLM-based models, deep learning architectures, and autonomous agents that understand, route, and resolve customer issues at scale. In this role, you will work within Operations, partnering closely with product squads consisting of data scientists, backend, mobile and web engineers, product managers, designers, user researchers, and operations specialists. Your responsibilities include building ML models that interpret customer problems from multiple inputs, optimising routing across millions of customers and thousands of support staff, automating support workflows, enabling faster decision-making, and driving measurable impact in production. Monzo is looking for someone with a strong track record of leading ML teams, shipping deep-learning or graph-based models to production, writing production-level Python and SQL, mentoring ML engineers, working through ambiguous problems, and contributing to a customer-first, fast-moving tech environment. The role offers £110,000–£140,000 salary plus stocks and benefits, UK visa sponsorship, relocation assistance, flexible remote working within the UK, a £1,000 annual learning budget, and full support for home-office setup.
