About the job

Tracer Cloud Inc is seeking a Lead Front-end Engineer for its London office, offering UK visa sponsorship for exceptional candidates and a compensation range of £60K–£120K plus significant equity (0.5%–1%). Tracer Cloud builds an advanced observability platform for high-performance computing to help scientists debug bioinformatics pipelines and accelerate breakthroughs in drug development and other research areas. As the Lead Front-end Engineer, you will design, build, and launch every user-facing experience for web and mobile from scratch, fully owning the front-end and full-stack systems and integrating them with backend services such as Clickhouse, Rust APIs, and AWS. Key responsibilities include architecting, building, and deploying full-stack applications using Next.js, TypeScript, and related technologies, developing real-time observability dashboards, advanced data visualizations, backend integrations, and deployment pipelines via Vercel and AWS, establishing engineering standards, foundational tooling, and supporting future hiring, and collaborating closely with design, product, and backend teams to ensure cohesive development. Candidates should have 3+ years of experience building and launching complex full-stack applications independently, deep expertise in Next.js, React, and TypeScript, proven ability to ship and maintain production-grade systems end to end, and comfort working autonomously in fast-moving, early-stage environments. Bonus qualifications include experience with Clickhouse or other high-performance data platforms, prior experience as a sole or lead engineer on major product launches, and early-stage startup or entrepreneurial experience. The company’s tech stack includes Next.js, TypeScript, Vercel, AWS, Clickhouse, with optional familiarity with Rust (backend), Nextflow, AlphaFold, Terraform, and eBPF. Applicants are required to submit a portfolio, GitHub, or live products built from scratch, along with a short write-up outlining their most impactful technical achievement. The interview process includes an initial call with Talent, an intro call with the Founder or Lead Engineer, a take-home technical assignment, and a technical interview.
