The KTP Associate in Business Intelligence and Sustainability Transformation at Aston Business School, in partnership with Stagecoach Services Ltd, offers an exciting opportunity to play a key role in developing a Performance Value System (PVS) for Stagecoach’s decarbonised Depot of the Future (DOTF), designed to support the operation of an all-electric bus fleet. Based in Stockport with access to Aston University’s facilities in Birmingham, the associate will lead innovation in integrating digital data from operational processes, workforce behaviours, and stakeholders to create systemic approaches that enable sustainable low-carbon operations across depots nationwide. The role involves designing and implementing digital dashboards, developing KPIs such as overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) and overall personal effectiveness (OPE), reviewing data maturity, and driving workflow innovation to optimise automation and sustainable practices. Candidates are expected to hold a master’s degree (with a strong background in engineering, IT, data analysis, business, or sustainability) and possess experience with smart/digital management systems, low-carbon practices, statistical tools (e.g., SPSS, R, AnyLogic, Power BI), and digital platforms like AWS, with additional knowledge of methodologies such as Value Stream Mapping or QFD being desirable. The post requires excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills, along with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams while inspiring organisational change. The role comes with benefits such as £4,000 for personal and professional development, 25 days of annual leave, professional mentorship, and mental health support, with strong career prospects as 60% of KTP associates secure permanent roles with partner companies. This Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP), funded by Stagecoach and Innovate UK, is a unique chance to contribute to the decarbonisation agenda, shape sustainable business practices, and influence the future of transport while gaining invaluable academic and industry experience.
