The Junior AI Specialist at Jisc will support UK universities and colleges in enhancing their AI maturity by delivering practical guidance and facilitating AI adoption across the tertiary education sector. The role involves developing and maintaining a broad technical understanding of cutting-edge AI techniques such as large language models (LLMs), diffusion models, multi-modal models, and retrieval augmented generation, and the ability to explain these concepts clearly to non-technical audiences. You will provide expertise on AI applications in education, translate technical findings into actionable insights via presentations, reports, and blogs, and collaborate with colleagues to evaluate and implement AI tools and strategies. Key responsibilities include assessing innovative AI proposals, organizing meetings and events, and engaging with diverse stakeholders to support AI integration. The ideal candidate should have a strong interest in AI, effective communication skills, a commitment to continuous learning, and the ability to work positively within a team. Jisc offers a flexible hybrid work model with excellent benefits, including generous leave, pension schemes, mental health support, and opportunities for professional development. The company holds a Skilled Worker visa sponsorship license, making this role open to candidates requiring visa sponsorship, though relocation and visa-related costs are not reimbursed.
