The Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC), part of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), is seeking an Instrumental Raman Spectroscopist for a three-year fixed-term research role at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory in Oxfordshire. The role involves developing novel analytical instrumentation that combines Spatially Offset Raman Spectroscopy (SORS) and ultrasound for enhanced chemical imaging in biological tissue. Candidates should have a PhD (or near completion) in natural sciences, with expertise in vibrational spectroscopy, Raman or IR instrumentation, and data analysis. Responsibilities include design, construction, optimisation, and operation of instruments, data interpretation, publication writing, and presentations at conferences. The position offers training, collaboration with the University of Exeter, and the opportunity to work in a globally renowned research environment.
